Empty Silk Tent of Tent Caterpillars

A large, intricate white silk tent is spun between the branches of a young tree. This communal nest, typical of Malacosoma moths or tent caterpillars, is now empty, featuring several holes and small dark specks of frass. The background shows out-of-focus green foliage in the late afternoon light.
